A juicy red wine with fruity aromas, floral notes of roses and hints of oak. In the mouth it is fresh, light and tasty. It shows a soft acidity, elegant tannins and well-integrated oak. The vineyard is located in the foothills of the Montes Aquilianos, imposing massifs that surprised the Romans when they arrived in Bierzo because they also found a large presence of eagles (aquilias), hence the name of the winery Akilia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The winery:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.akiliawines.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">AKILIA<\/span><\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Location:<\/strong> San Lorenzo (Ponferrada)<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Variety:<\/strong> 100% Menc\u00eda<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Geographical indication:<\/strong> D.O. Bierzo<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Alcohol:<\/strong> 12,5 %<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Vineyard:<\/strong> Villar\u00edn is a plot of one hectare in total surface area. The estate, which gives its name to the wine, faces east. The vineyard is very old, almost a century old, and is tended in the traditional goblet style.<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Soil type:<\/strong> Clay loam soils on slate and quartzite.<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Climate:<\/strong> Continental Mediterranean with Atlantic influence, characterised by extreme temperature differences between winter and summer.<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022 Processing method:<\/strong> The grapes are harvested by hand using small crates so that the grapes do not break and reach the winery in the best possible condition. The wine is vinified in concrete tanks.
